This ram's skull wrestled from dark peat, rust streaked
from rain's run-off, and zig-zag cracked eye socket to
eye socket weighs a ton.
We haul it home by horns curved, and ribbed
like huge ammonite fossils, to be jetwashed
and mounted high up on the barn door
where it comes back to life, as I knew it would
with a body fashioned from old fleeces
and the moon on its face.
