chocolate violin
by Michael D. Amitin

just when she split the cherry
allowed the taut bow breath
the violin to strip wood naked,

ready to dance
the tune fell out of step

Saw a chocolate violin
storefront candy, backlit
thinking she might play again

plucking timeless flowers legato hours
ready for a date
may never come
black strapped pink
case negligee

banished to shy girl silence

brigadiers slither down rue della rue
kicking cigarette butts
sea gulls strut the
pile of regrets up on low lip big trash mountain
