Some people say they hate fences.
I don’t.
It’s doors that get me.
I know what you’re thinking:
Doors signify endings
and imply finality,
perhaps even mortality.
Could be, I guess,
but your theory’s much too deep,
and what really gets me is this.
How long does it take for you
to walk through a door?
Maybe a second, maybe two.
And in that second or two,
as you traverse from in to out,
or from out to in—
changing the universe for better
or possibly for worse—
just what the hell am I supposed to do?
