Plains Prayer

May the spirit of our forbears
put us on the path to fufillment
of our foreverness
May the Buffalo Spirit protect
us from the enemies within
and without ourselves
Give us the speed to outrun
the oppressions of our past, grant us
swift passage to a surer future
Let the rhythm of our ancestors
run in our blood to make music
for our remembrances
Allow our Elders to nurture
the flowers of our Plains, to sow
in them love for all creatures
Give us grace to share the joy
of our accomplishments with family
and friends and all peoples
