Silent Screams
by Richard Schnap
|
For years a poet who lives around here
Has taped his poems to corner light poles
Where they speak a lonely anonymous verse
Among the flyers for yard sales and missing cats
They are always gone within a day
Like birthday cards from estranged relatives
Or love letters that fail to rekindle a flame
Smothered long ago by an indifferent wind
