a little parable about our present world condition
by Charles Kesler

slowly the train makes its way to the station.
a burly conductor eating a banana burps his disapproval
to each boarding passenger.
i am one,
but this time it doesn’t bother me,
and i throw the banana peel he threw down
at his feet.
he slips. he hollers every bit of his ambulance ride
to the hospital.
i refuse to admit him,
burping my disapproval to his face.
