Homage to Mr. Wizard
by Ben Rasnic
|
Velcro gripped
to the schoolyard playground
I lie sprawled
in grass-stained, knee-patched
blue denim jeans.
A crowd gathers
as prisms of sunlight
take aim thru my pocket-sized
magnifying glass
dissolving brown brittle leaves
into wisps of smoke;
my friends’ faces
like fish on a stringer,
astonished and amazed.
