Night Of Lebh Shomea
by Fran McRedmond

in isolated hermitage
and desert heat
I can’t bear the light
I bathe
then stand naked and wet
in cool darkness
the windows wide
caress of field-fragrance
on damp skin
hear crickets and tree-rustle
watch dark shapes
move against a night sky
grateful for the wind
and golden sparks of fireflies
listening
