When I said salt, you describe the taste of fruits,
orange, mango, pearl, cherry, carrot, and grape.
When I said, I’m by the window listening to the
sound of rain falling in the yard you thought of
butterflies in your pockets when you were ten,
playing in the corn field, as if we have to come up
with our own pictures of the things we have seen.
And I’m wondering if truth pleases the senses.
When I said truth my mind brims with the distance
these rain drops travels. I'm talking mainly of the many
associations they call up, how each time words written
on a page tell us of the distance our eyes cannot see.
