The Prince of Purpose
by Charles Kesler

His mother pushed so hard
when he was born
she shot him across the room
and he became the prince
of purpose, a poet precisely,
delicately balanced and ballooning,
and at the end of the tether politely.
Slightly deformed
but informed of his brave beginning
he lived on the energy
of original thrust.
